Los Angeles Soccer Attempts to Go All Mexican by Purging English-Speaking Americans

LA’s most diverse sport is already pretty español, but now the owner of the team is accused of harassing non-Mexicans into quitting their jobs, and not just the players in the public eye, but office staff.

The case has taken the form of a lawsuit by the aggrieved American employee, since the Mexican billionaire owner of the team is apparently unwilling to comply with US law. Doesn’t Senor Jorge Vergara have a cadre of expensive attorneys whispering law facts into his ear?

Mexican vs. US soccer is a form of low-intensity warfare where the Mexicans feel they have the advantage, so they are really unhappy when they lose. The US star Landon Donovan has been called “the most hated man in Mexico.”

Wait, hasn’t the soccer industry been pushing the sport in America as the cool new thing? Making it the Mex-only pursuit will limit the piles of dollars flowing in. Or perhaps richy rich Hispanics think that all-Mexican equals diversity.
