Politicians Say The Darnedest Things

Mrs Clinton, campaigning in Iowa:

I wouldn’t keep any school open that wasn’t doing a better than average job.

For crying out loud.  I don’t expect my politicians to be able to do multivariate regression analysis, but is “average” really such a challenging statistical concept?
