January’s Jobs/ Unemployment data has been greeted with euphoria by the Democratic Party/ Main Stream Media (to the extent that the two can be distinguished). Example:
Jobs jump: A 2012 game-changer?
By Alexander Burns and Ben White, Politico.com. February 3, 2010
In Federale’s blog post about Alabama, below, he referred to University Of Alabama Treason Lobby economist Samuel N, Addy [Email him] as a communist, and also “Comrade” Addy, based Addy’s support for illegal immigration.
According to the elite liberal media like the New York Times, the illegal immigration invasion is over, so we can all forget about it and concern ourselves with the Superbowl, the Oscars and getting around to an amnesty for mucho millions.
The Obama Administration has leaked a bunch of memos with Obama's comments in the margins to Ryan Lizza of The New Yorker, who has written them up as best he can as a story of Republican intransigence.
Mickey Kaus responds:
Bruce Norris's corrosive play Clybourne Park, about real estate and racial replacement in Chicago, was set to debut on Broadway in April, where it was tagged as the frontrunner for the Tony Award for best drama. But producer Scott Rudin has stomped off, peeved that Norris turned down his offer of a role in something else Rudin is producing.
In the late 1980s, my wife discovered this product that made my hair look great. But, the company that made it immediately went out of business. Over time, we started to notice a pattern: whatever product I liked would quickly tank in the marketplace.
The New York Times blog, and, following, them the Atlantic are claiming that the term "self-deportation" was invented by a pair of Latino comic activists in 1994, and that when Pete Wilson and others started using it, they had been pranked by the fictional character “Daniel D. Portado,”[Message “D.
The cost of an immigration crackdown is….lower unemployment rates. The Alabama crackdown on illegal aliens is opening up jobs for Americans.
AL.com by Roy Williams January 25, 2012Alabama's December Unemployment Rate Decline Best In U.S.
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Alabama's unemployment rate declined more rapidly than any other state's in December, providing more evidence that the Alabama economy is rebounding, experts said.
The New York Times story I linked to below, about illegals losing their jobs at Pomona College, has the story of "Carmen, 30, who asked that her last name not be used for fear of alerting immigration officials". She says that until recently, when Pomona, after 11 years of employing her illegally, started checking documents, she was earning, illegally, $17 an hour.
I'm often told that race doesn't exist because, uh, what about Tiger Woods? What about American Indians and Chinese? Are they one race or two? What about Sioux v. Cherokee? Separate races or not? Huh? Huh?
If there isn't a race for everyone and everyone in his one race, then race can't exist.
Walter Williams: Licensed to speak
Exercising his dermatological privilege, Professor Walter Williams has raised the key question about 2013.
Those who think Hispanics are one unified tribe with identical open-borders interests should ponder the Florida Republican primary election returns. Mitt Romney, the strongest pro-enforcement candidate we have, won 54 percent of the Hispanic vote to the consternation of political leaders who say pandering to Latinos about immigration and promising amnesty is required for Republicans to succeed.
There's more to this story, which is about the success of interior enforcement via paperwork, but I just thought it was funny that they posed the illegal ex-employee next to the Pomona college gate inscription that says "Let only the eager, thoughtful, and reverent enter here."It doesn't matter how eager, thoughtful, and reverent you are if you're an illegal alien.
We were warned over and over that Romney's belief in enforcing the immigration law would cost him Hispanic votes, especially in the Florida primary, because Florida has a lot of Hispanic Republicans.
This turned out not be the the case--Roy Beck of NumbersUSA has the details.
I was saddened but unsurprised by this Ron Paul story:
Paul: Immigration not solved by barbed wire, guns
By Beth Fouhy
Associated Press / February 1, 2012
I remember doing this Quote Of The Day blog post from cell phone internet on a train to Washington in 2007. (There was supposed to be wi-fi. They told me there would be wi-fi.) That's why it's so short:
In my article about Gingrich and Romney groveling to Jorge Ramos during their public interviews on January 25th, I pointed out that Newt didn't really make it clear what illegal aliens he actually would deport. After all, under the Gingrich Doctrine, grandparents are exempt from deportation, people who have been here 20 years or more are exempt, illegals who join the military are exempt and illegal students wouldn't be deported.
