Thanks And Happy New Year To VDARE.com Readers
By Peter Brimelow
I want to wish a Happy New Year to all VDARE.com readers.
We all need it.
And I want to thank those of you, many now friends of long-standing, who have given to our Christmas fundraising drive. It will be some time before we can collate the results. Checks dated in 2011 will be snailing in for some time—they’re still deductible in 2011, even if we can’t deposit them until 2012. But it looks like we won’t reach our record set at in the Christmas 2010 drive. I can think of several reasons for this, including repeated hacking attacks which have compelled us to employ expensive and tricky anti-fraud filters in mid-campaign, and the malign influence of the election season. Trivial, historically pointless political campaigns and their parasitical “consultants” spend amazing amounts of money, sucking it away from public education operations like VDARE.com that actually do change the climate of ideas - just like the Dementors in the Harry Potter movie my family just insisted that I watch.
Political campaign (note resemblance to Karl Rove) sucking money from innocent 501(c)(3) educational foundation.
I don’t want to be too depressing about this. VDARE.com has succeeded in funding itself through gifts from individual American patriots since 1999. (Ads and revenue from Amazon—remember, always enter Amazon though a VDARE.com link to make any purchase and we get a commission at no cost to you—are a welcome trickle). It’s a new form of journalism, but a viable economic form, like a church. We will endeavor to struggle on.
And we are the only way that facts and analyses that defend the historic American nation are going to be reported. The Main Stream Media, or any outlet dependant on corporate advertising or Establishment foundation grants, simply will not do it.
As I was writing this, a reader emailed me this item:
Romney Would Veto Dream Act
By CNN Political Producer Rachel Streitfeld, December 31 2011, 9:23 pm ET
Le Mars, Iowa (CNN) - GOP candidate Mitt Romney pledged Saturday to veto any effort by Congress to create a path to citizenship for young adults in the United States illegally.
"The question is, if I were elected and Congress were to pass the DREAM Act, would I veto it, and the answer is yes," Romney said in response to a query from the audience of roughly 200 at The Family Table in Le Mars.
VDARE.com emphasis. “In response to a query from the audience”—that’s how the issue of patriotic immigration reform is slowly forcing itself into public debate.
That’s why we will struggle on—and why we are so grateful for your support.
I now go to join my (expanding) family to watch the 2012 come in.
And I wish all VDARE.com readers a very Happy, Prosperous and Patriotic New Year.
Sincerely,
Peter Brimelow
