But this year, unfortunately, the outlook for America has never been grimmer. Which is why VDARE.com must ask you to help us now. America faces three interlocking problems: 1. A Leftist Administration that has essentially no roots in the historic American nation (at VDARE.com we call it frankly a “Minority Occupation Government”) is very close to drowning that nation through mass non-traditional immigration (we call it “Electing A New People”). And now the Obamacrats have deployed a formidable new weapon: Administrative Amnesty—their unconstitutional unilateral decision not to enforce laws against illegal immigration. 2. A Main Stream Media elite that has never been more partisan—or more blatantly orchestrated. I’ve survived as a working journalist for nearly 40 years. I’m all too familiar with the trade’s bias, mob psychology, and peer group pressure. But lately, even I’ve been shocked. Yes, the internet has made possible an alternative guerilla media—of which VDARE.com is very proud to be a part. But, at the same time, it’s obviously enabled Leftist activists in the MSM to create and co-ordinate their propaganda campaigns—to unprecedented effect. 3. A Patriotic Opposition whose alleged leaders are as divided and cowed as I’ve ever seen them—assuming they aren’t secretly working for the other side. This is a season of hope. And it’s vital to note this: America’s alleged leaders are divided and cowed—but not her people. I first saw this when I attended the so-called Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington D.C. held shortly after President Obama’s inauguration. I wrote (March 11, 2009):
And that was exactly what happened in the 2010 elections—completely contrary to Beltway expectations. The Tea Parties erupted out of nowhere and won back the House for the GOP. (Which, needless to say, has done nothing with it). Of course, this vindicates VDARE.com’s operating assumption: patriotic immigration reform will not come from “Inside The Beltway”—it must be imposed from without, by an informed and motivated grass roots. At VDARE.com, we aim to inform and motivate the grass roots. We are delighted when Tea Partiers tell us they pass out our articles at meetings. But it takes money to generate those articles. However, the 2010 election backlash against Obama happened in a very particular way: The GOP got its highest share of the white vote for many years, some 60%. This again vindicates VDARE.com. For ten years, we have been arguing that simple arithmetic suggests the simplest path to victory for the GOP was, not futile “outreach” to minorities, but “inreach”—mobilizing its own white base. We call it “The Sailer Strategy” after our writer Steve Sailer, who has written extensively about it on VDARE.com. In 2010, it began to happen. But this also explains the mounting hysteria of the Left. American politics are now profoundly unstable. Eventually, the Left will indeed succeed in Electing A New People—but for the next few election cycles, whites still cast by far the largest proportion of votes. And the white vote is tipping away from the Left. At all costs, the Left must keep the historic American nation from uniting—until it is drowned through immigration. It must cow the historic American nation into accepting its subjugation. Of course, this explains the elevation of the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman case into the Crime of The Century. The object: to rally the Left’s minority base; and to intimidate America’s white majority. In contrast, the much more numerous and objectively far more atrocious black-on-white killings—for example, the 2010 Pearcy Massacre, an Arkansas home invasion in which five whites were killed—receive absolutely no national and often no local publicity, except on VDARE.com. Similarly “disappeared” are the 40-odd incidents of Immigrant Mass Murder Syndrome, involving scores of victims, that we have documented on VDARE.com. MSM reports of the latest example, in California on April 2, are regularly failing to mention that the accused killer is an immigrant at all. This is news management on an unprecedented scale. But the Left’s most important chosen instrument: repression. In the last few years, an astonishingly long list of MSM journalists have been eliminated because they challenge, or are thought to be about to challenge, the MSM’s Leftwing consensus—for example, Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck, Pat Buchanan. Even Rush Limbaugh has come under attack. And, of course, to appease a Left-wing lynch mob, John Derbyshire has just been fired from the new, Politically Correct National Review—despite (or perhaps because of) his unmatched brilliance there, to say nothing of his cancer and his years of loyal service. Note the Left’s new tactic: pressuring advertisers. These have proved singularly craven. In the current climate, the commercial media is less and less able to host Politically Incorrect journalism. Only independent outlets like VDARE.com can do it—and only if you help us NOW. As it happens, we now know exactly how these Leftist campaigns are organized. Two years ago, details of a collective email listserv group called Journolist became public. The posts showed several hundred leftist MSM journalists plotting among themselves how to manipulate news coverage and frame issues in order to get Barack Obama elected. One Spencer Ackerman, then of the Washington Independent and now with Wired, urged his fellows to distract attention from the embarrassing issue of radical Rev. Jeremiah White’s links with Obama (a story broken by Steve Sailer on VDARE.com) by randomly picking conservatives—

This is a fair description of what has been happening in American public debate over the last four years. John Derbyshire is merely the latest victim. Without betraying confidences, I hope that John Derbyshire will resume writing for us—he was prevented from doing so by NR’s current degenerate (and fearful) management. But we will need to pay him. We need to pay all our writers. Money is our secret weapon at VDARE.COM. Our fixed costs are very low, we operate entirely virtually. We don’t have to pay printing and postage (thank goodness!). What this means: essentially everything you give goes to pay writers and editors. Our writers and editors are not paid as much as I would like. But they do get something. This ability to pay our writers is what has distinguished VDARE.COM from a host of excellent but evanescent blogs which have come and gone. Writers will often write for love—because they passionately believe in our cause. But in the long run, they need to be able to justify the time spent, to their families and to themselves. At VDARE.COM, we are in this for the long haul. We are building an institution. We need money to do that. We can only do it with your help. To me as a professional journalist, the quantity and quality of non-professional writing on the immigration issue that comes in over the e-transom has been a revelation. Many of these writers have full-time careers in other fields, some are students; I encourage these to write anonymously because of the very real reign of terror imposed by the curse of Political Correctness. Others are struggling, idealistic free-lancers; I shudder for them. All are patriots deprived of outlets because of the orthodoxy of the Mainstream Media. One final thought for tax week: Almost certainly, there are tax increases coming. But your donations to VDARE.COM are tax-deductible.
