Alt Right's Spencer vs. FrumForum's Mak

Just as I predicted, the result of my interview about Alternative Right with FrumForum's Tim Mak was a boringly orthodox piece, The “New” Racist Right, expressing shock, horror etc. that anyone (sixteen yearsafter the publication of The Bell Curve!) would break the liberal embargo on discussing race etc. etc. Mak quotes me fairly enough, just saying “The conservative establishment is… brain dead”, his article being of course a case in point. But he smears AltRight Editor Richard Spencer in the usual way; Richard whacks him on the snout here; Richard Hoste posted earlier here.

A minor point about Mak's interview with me: he kept on referring to "human biological diversity" and I kept telling him the term was "human biodiversity". (Spencer dates it to E.O. Wilson's 1975 book Sociobiology ; Jonathan Marks published Human Biodiversity back in 1995.) But I could tell Mak wasn't getting it and in his FrumForum farrago he still calls it "human biological diversity".

Because he's never heard of it. He's never heard of any of the arguments that appear in Alternative Right or VDARE.COM. Why would he? He's not merely straight out college, it was a Canadian college, for goodness sake. He may even read National Review.

No wonder Mak thinks women only got the vote "fifty years ago"! (Hey! I remember fifty years ago!) He never had a chance.

Commiserate with Tim Mak.

American Prospect's Jessica Weisberg has written expressing distress that I could be so cynical about the prospects for her interview with me, which took place on the same day. We'll see.
