VDARE.com Editor Peter Brimelow writes:

We hate to close VDARE.com—especially at this critical time. Congress returns on Monday and the Schumer/ Rubio 2013 Amnesty/ Immigration Surge bill will be reach the floor of the Senate very quickly.

But our Spring Fundraising Drive has slowed to a crawl. Currently, we have about $26,500 on hand—agonizingly, we’re just $3,500 short of our target.

We must meet that target. VDARE.com operates on a shoestring, even compared to the Inside-The-Beltway Immigration Patriot groups.

And their budgets, of course, are utterly dwarfed by the staggering amount of money being spent by the Treason Lobby on the current Amnesty/ Immigration Surge campaign.

Oddly, that’s one reason why I’m cautiously optimistic about this battle.

Increasingly, the Amnesty/ Immigration Surge is looking like the hapless 2012 Romney presidential campaign: a feeding frenzy of Washington DC-based consultants looting naive business-oriented donors, lavishing money on things like TV ads and phone banks that earn commissions—and hiding the fact that, outside the ethnic lobbies, Amnesty and increased immigration have no popular support.

And don’t be deceived by the universal triumphalism about Amnesty in the Main Stream Media. That’s nothing new.

Remember, after the 2008 election, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid arrogantly told the Detroit Free Press that

“on immigration, there's been an agreement between [President-elect Barack] Obama and [Arizona Republican Senator John] McCain to move forward on that. ... We've got McCain and we've got a few others. I don't expect much of a fight at all.”

Well, Reid did get a fight. In fact, in the end he didn’t even dare bring Amnesty up—even though he had a veto-proof majority for much of 2009.

Amnesty was stopped, to the amazement of everyone in Washington, by a spontaneous, leaderless, tsunami of resistance from Out There in Americaland.

I believe this is happening again.

But whatever happens in the next few weeks—whether the Amnesty/ Immigration Surge is defeated or whether it passes and the historic American nation is forced to go to some Plan B (a Third Party? secession?), VDARE.com will go on fighting.

I could write a lot more about our reasons for fighting. But two of mine—Felicity and Karia—are in the picture above.

Please help us reach our target and help save America—click here to make a tax-deductible donation.

We are profoundly grateful.
